a surprise

In Uncategorized on May 17, 2010 at 9:58 pm

I remember nothing about preschool except the day my mom said to me, “I have a surprise for you” when she came to pick me up. I ran out to our mini-van so excited. I was filled with anticipation as to what this surprise might be. We drove down a familiar path toward our house but we stopped at the cool looking building that kinda looked like a house, but wasn’t a house. It was the county health office. Today, my great, wonderful, unspoken surprise was… my kindergarten shots! The next thing I remember is crying so hard I couldn’t see and someone, probably the nurse, handing me a sucker. I was so upset that I didn’t realize it was a sucker until half way back to the van. I don’t even remember getting back in the van, but I know that “I have a surprise for you” is not a good lead up to some lady poking you with a needle. Sorry mom, but this was one of those [scar you for life] moments.
